![]() At least the PC version of the game will hit some crazy high resolutions, though, and one out of two isn't bad. The only bit of bad news in this regard is that the PS2 version of the game will not support widescreen or progressive scan, which is obviously a bummer for guys like me that love their HDTVs. The swaying bushes, clouded skies, and wandering wildlife really bring a nice organic look to the presentation, while the animations of characters and monsters were much smoother than I anticipated. Speaking of the resolution, graphics hounds are in for a treat as PSU is surprisingly detailed for a game that's so large in size and scope. In fact the art style is almost identical, save for the obvious improvement in character models and resolution. But just like any good teaser, it also left me with more questions than when I walked in.īroken into two stages (an outdoor plains level and the inside of a purple-hued techno dungeon), Phantasy Star Universe at first resembles its Dreamcast-based predecessors PS Online Episodes 1 & 2. The same single-player version that Sonic Team plans to unveil on the show floor next week in Los Angeles, the E3 build of PSU provided some interesting clues as to what the final game will eventually hold.
